TERRARIUM POTS

These ceramic art objects are based on the idea of building small worlds that would be a home or vessel of an idea. Each layer represents the passage of time as the world becomes terraformed.

The pieces are designed layer by layer as I construct a narrative about the newly discovered landscape. How did this world function? What were the inhibitions like? With each layer, the sands of time bury an existence that will be forgotten while revealing a new world.

Constructing the pieces leaves you with a feeling of omnipotence as you create floods and fires that will forever shape the landscape beneath. As observers, we are merely seeing the moment frozen in time with no perspective of the lives and their love or sorrow; just beauty and chaos.
